This is an excerpt of what I wanted to say ... and no longer said.
"The '68 was much more than on 2 October. It was a year that dazzled the world and caught the political and social changes. It was a year when forged a spirit of innovation, embodied in a youth ready not only to dream but to turn their dreams into reality. A step up and face the consequences of their ideals.
events that occurred in France, Prague, the U.S. and elsewhere, including our country, were a reflection of that spirit. From different fronts, the struggle for peace, racial equality, freedom of expression and justice, represented a society willing to speak out, to require not to be satisfied.
In Mexico, the '68 was in sight promising for our country by being the first Latin American nation to host an Olympics. Unfortunately, today, remember him as a year of celebration. On the other hand, refers to scenes of violence, sadness and anger.
After 40 years, we are forced to rethink and reflect, not only about what happened in that year, but on its consequences. On the relationship between government and citizens. On the participation of society in government decisions. About our national identity. On accountability.
